From Gilded Tally to Silk Obituary

To those who look upon the pages bound within this velvet binding, know that they hold neither poetry nor praise. They contain my own diagnostic studies of a terminal disease.

I once lived a life of opulence and ease. I knew the weight of signet rings, the fragrance of imported elixirs, and the hollow laughter of ballrooms. I also came to know the quiet, unnatural rot that breeds beneath the gold. In their unchecked excess, the high-born do not merely hoard wealth; they cultivate monsters. They strike bargains with shadows to protect their estates, feed on the misery of the lower quarters to fuel their magic, and dismiss their sins as the privileges of birth.

I have cast off the silk robe, but I have kept the ledger.

Within these pages lies The Velvet Casebook. Every name added bears its own Gilded Tally—a cold calculation of guilt, a tracking of luxuries paid for with blood, and an inescapable countdown. And when the work is finished, when the corrupt are brought to ruin, their story ends within as a Silken Obituary.

Gold cannot purchase a reprieve from my wrath. For those devoid of morality, the price of their excess is absolute—it demands nothing less than the entirety of their being, and I have come to collect.

Let the Bourgeois Mori begin the count.
